Smoke Dream

Revelations & Connection

My mind has been ablaze since the last card fell into place. Like a dry lightning storm bathing a brushfire, i can't focus on one force of amazement long enough to catch hold of my sanity. One minute i'm flashed with the white hot realization of how amazing the game is, and how much potential it has, and how wonderful it is. Then i'm awash in the amber glow of mulling over the story i just lived through, like a steady crackling roar of re-consideration...

I wanted to have words here. Poetic, worthy, bronzed words. But...i just can't. I'm still so breathless at the ingenuity, the sheer cleverness of it all.

Smoke Dream is a game i wish i had when i was reading by candle light in the mountains as a boy. It's the game i wish i could have thumbed through by flashlight under the fold out bed of my Dad's old traveling van. It's the game i would take first, back through time, to give to me, when i was younger, and alone, with many years separating me from storygames with people.

Smoke Dream is a game that kindles imagination. Just enough to ignite your thoughts, without smothering it in rules, or blowing it out with gusty gimmicks. It's just what you need to spend some time dreaming.

I can't praise it enough. I'm simply blown away. Bravo, Jackson. Bravo.
